The “Labor Occupational Accident Insurance and Protection Act” was implemented on 1 May, 2022. The BLI Will Assist the Employers Of Migrant Domestic Workers to Complete the Enrollment Procedures.
The Labor Occupational Accident Insurance and Protection Act (Hereinafter referred to as the “Occupational Accident Insurance Act”) was implemented on May 1, 2022. Foreign home caregivers and domestic helpers (Hereinafter referred to as “Migrant Domestic Workers”) are subject to compulsory enrollment to the program. To simplify the administrative procedures, the BLI will proactively check the data of work permits of the migrant domestic workers provided by the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor. For those who have not yet enrolled in the Occupational Accident Insurance, the BLI will issue a letter to the employers to provide relevant information, in the meantime assist them to complete the enrollment procedures. It is not necessary for the employers to complete and mail (deliver) the enrollment applications to the BLI. The BLI, in the meantime, reminds the employers that, in case the worker leaves his/her job in future, the employer is obliged to file an application for withdrawal from the insurance program on the date when the worker is separated from the job.
