12. Can an insured person continue to receive unpaid parental leave allowances if the person non-voluntarily resigns during the period of applying for unpaid parental leave?

No, they may not. If an insured person resigns from one's job non-voluntarily during one's unpaid parental leave, then the labor agreement signed between the employer and employee is terminated, indicating that there are no facts of parental leave without pay and, thus, issuance of unpaid parental leave allowances must be discontinued. If the insured person participates in employment insurance during the unpaid parental leave as required by law and qualifies for receiving unemployment benefits, then the insured person may follow relevant regulations and apply for unemployment benefits. However, if the insured person did not participate in employment insurance, he/she may not apply for unemployment benefits because the non-voluntary resignation is not an event that occurred during the valid period of the insurance agreement.
