5. One of our employees is about to attain 65 years of age, are we required to apply for withdrawal of employment insurance on the employee's behalf?

  1. For insured persons who have enrolled in the labor insurance program and are eligible for employment insurance coverage, The Bureau shall directly void his/her eligibility for employment insurance on the date when he/she attains the age of 65, if the insured person is still employed and under insurance coverage at the time. It is not necessary for the insured unit to separately withdraw the employee from employment insurance.

  2. If the insured person has not participated in labor insurance and is solely covered by employment insurance, he/she shall not be eligible for employment insurance coverage on the date when he/she attains the age of 65. The Bureau shall duly withdraw the insured person's insurance coverage on the date preceding the actual day he/she attains the age of 65. Employment insurance coverage shall become ineffective at 12:00 o'clock midnight on the day before the insured person attains the age of 65.
