1. What are “Early reemployment incentives”?

Early reemployment incentives encourage the insured person to be re-employed as soon as possible. An insured person who is eligible for receiving unemployment benefits, but has found employment prior to the full benefit period has elapsed, and has been enrolled in Employment Insurance for at least 3 months is eligible for receiving these benefits. Early reemployment incentives are calculated as 50% of the remaining benefits unclaimed by the insured person, and are payable in one lump sum.
