7. Can all out-of-pocket expenses for specific medical materials be refunded?

In order to enhance the rights and interests to medical benefits of the insured who suffer occupational injuries and diseases and maintain the effective use of insurance resources, the insured who are identified as having medical needs due to occupational injuries and diseases by the physicians of the NHI hospitals or clinics and the select the items as stipulated in Paragraph 1 of Article 45 of the National Health Insurance Act which requires partial out-of-pocket payments may apply to the Bureau  for a refund of such out-of-pocket payments after making payment in advance. Therefore, if the insured selects medical materials of full out-of-pocket payments, because it is not an item covered by the National Health Insurance, nor is it covered by occupational accident medical benefits, the insured who selects such item shall bear the relevant expense on his/her own.
