Furthermore, the Table of Grades of Insurance Salary for Labor Insurance will also be adjusted, with adjustment made to the basic wage. The Bureau of Labor Insurance will adjust the insurance salary for those with monthly insurance salary below NT$21,009

From January, 1 2017 onward, the premium rate of Ordinary Insurance in the Labor Insurance will be increased by 0.5%, to 9.5% of the insured person's monthly insurance salary; in addition, there will be a 1% Employment Insurance premium increase, for a total of 10.5%.
From January 1, 2017 onward, the premium rate of Ordinary Insurance in the Labor Insurance will be adjusted to 10.5%. However, since the implementation of the Employment Insurance Act, a 1% reduction is imposed on the Ordinary Insurance premium, according to the insured person's monthly insured salary. In other words, from 2017 onward, the Ordinary Insurance premium in the Labor Insurance will be charged at 9.5% of the insured person's monthly insured salary.

The Grade 1 insurance salary on the Table of Grades of Insurance Salary shall be adjusted to NT$21,009 from January 1, 2017 onward. For individual insured persons whose monthly insurance salary is below NT$21,009, the Bureau of Labor Insurance (hereinafter referred to as BLI) shall adjust the amount to NT$21,009 on January 1, 2017. The insured units are not required to file an application for the adjustment.

The basic wage will be adjusted from NT$20,008 per month to NT$21,009 per month. The Table of Grades of Insurance Salary will also be revised according to the adjustment of the basic wage. The Grade 1 insurance salary will be adjusted to NT$21,009, the original Grade 2 (NT$20,100) and Grade 3 (NT$21,000) will be removed. The original Grade 4 (NT$21,900) will be the current Grade 2, and the following grades will replace the remaining grades accordingly. Grades and amounts above NT$21,900 remain unchanged, and the insurance salary for the highest grade is still NT$45,800. After the revision, the Table of Grades of Insurance Salary now has 18 grades. For trainees of vocational training institutions, part-time workers, and disabled persons under sheltered employment programs and whose salary is below the basic wage, their monthly insurance salary will be included in the additional NT$20,008 tier, which was originally Grade 1. The minimum monthly insurance salary for the remaining grade remains the same as before.
Following the revision of the Table of Grades of Insurance Salary, the BLI shall adjust the insurance salary to NT$21,009 for the following three types of insured persons, starting on January 1, 2017. Effective from the same date, the premium amount shall be calculated on the basis of the adjusted amount:
1.   Insured persons who will be over the age of 16 by January 1, 2017 and a full-time worker whose monthly insurance salary is NT$20,008 as of December 2016 (except part-time workers, low-income individuals insured with the vocational associations, disabled persons under sheltered employment programs, and trainees of vocational training institutions).
2.   All insured persons whose monthly insurance salary is NT$20,100 as of December 2016.
3.   All insured persons whose monthly insurance salary is NT$21,000 as of December 2016.
The notice for the adjustment of insurance salary shall be printed on the reverse side of the insurance premium payment bills for October 2016, which shall be mailed to the insured units in the last ten days of November 2016. The details of insured persons with adjusted insurance salaries shall be printed on the “Monthly Premium Calculation List for Insured Persons with Premium Adjustment" (insured units that use Internet services may use the BLI's e-services for queries and downloads) of the insurance premium payment bills for January 2017 (to be mailed during the last ten days of February 2017). The insured units should check the lists carefully. If there is any discrepancy, please advise the BLI before the deadline for premium payment.

Insured units shall pay attention to the following when applying for labor insurance coverage for an insured person or adjusting insurance salary:

If an insured unit adjusts the monthly insurance salary for a full-time worker over the age of 16 (from December 1, 2016 onward) or applies for insurance coverage from January 1, 2017 onward, be sure to apply starting at the NT$21,009 level.
