18. In the event of a severely disabled insured person, is it true that whether he/she has received the disability benefits in one lump-sum or the disability pension benefits, his/her survivor cannot claim the survivor benefits if he/she dies in the future?

In the event of an insured person whose level of disability is classified as “permanently incapacitated for work” according to the Disability Benefits Payment Standards, if the insured person chooses to claim the one-time disability benefits (the insured person had insurance coverage before January 1st, 2009), his/her beneficiary shall not claim the survivor pension or survivor allowances when he/she dies in future. If the insured person chooses to claim the disability pension payments, his/her beneficiary may claim the survivor pension or claim all at once the balance of the disability benefits– after deduction of the total amount of disability pension payments already received.
