6. If an insured person suffers from an occupational injury or sickness and receives treatment abroad, how can he/she apply for reimbursement after returning to Taiwan? What are the payment standards?

(1) If the insured suffers an occupational injury or disease abroad, he/she must seek medical treatment at a local hospital or clinic. He/she may apply to the Bureau for approval on the day of outpatient treatment or within 6 months from the date of discharge (5 years for special reasons) to reimburse medical expenses.

(2) For the application for reimbursement of medical expenses in the preceding Paragraph, the supporting documents, reimbursement period, reimbursement criteria, procedures, and scope of emergency injuries and diseases shall be submitted in accordance with the National Health Insurance Act and its relevant regulations.
