Having issued more than ten million ATM cards so far, the Chunghwa Post Co., Ltd. has established a widespread service network around the country. People can even access ATMs in mountainous and very remote areas. To provide more convenient and pertinent inquiry channels for all workers on labor insurance and labor pension information, the Bureau of Labor Insurance has established a cooperative relationship with Chunghwa Post Co., Ltd. Starting November 2012, the Bureau will commission Chunghwa Post Co., Ltd. as an additional inquiry channel on labor-related benefits. This new initiative will create over 3,000 more service points for relevant queries.
Since November 2005, the Bureau of Labor Insurance has successively commissioned Land Bank of Taiwan, E-Sun Commercial Bank, Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank, Taishin International Bank, and First Commercial Bank to issue Labor Protection Cards. More than 5,000 inquiry service points were consequently made available. Card holders can check and print out the latest six records on changes in their labor insurance, their total insured period, the latest six transaction details in their Individual Labor Pension Account, and their accumulated balance at any of these issuing banks' ATMs.
The Bureau of Labor Insurance explained that the existing facilities for labor insurance/labor pension inquiries are not sufficiently convenient because some townships have yet to install ATMs for any of these five banks. Therefore, this new approach is aimed at providing workers with more convenient inquiry channels. From November 1, 2012, laborers holding Chunghwa Post ATM cards who wish to apply for this service may go to any post office branch to sign a letter of consent authorizing the Bureau to release their personal information to Chunghwa Post Co., Ltd. for inquiries and printing by the cardholder. In the future, the cardholders may conduct inquiries at any time and through any post office ATM to fully grasp the details of their labor benefits.
