With Effect from January 18, 2022, Both Parents Can Claim Parental Leave Allowance at the Same Time If They Are Both Covered by the Employment Insurance.

In accordance with the Directive Yuan-Tai-Lau-Tzi No. 1110001042 announced by the Executive Yuan on January 18, 2022, the amended Article 19-2 of the "Employment Insurance Act" shall take effect on January 18, 2022. In this amendment, the following regulation has been removed: "If the parents are both insured, they shall not claim the parental leave allowance at the same time." Accordingly, both parents shall be entitled to claim the parental leave allowance at the same time if they are both insured and the "Starting Date" for the period of the parental leave allowance is later than January 18, 2022, the date of implementation.
